Thank you for choosing to fundraise with  Hugs for Healing for your school and/or organization. As moms of school-aged children, we know and have much experience helping our children’s schools raise money with the help of their PTAs. We understand and support the efforts made by selling everything from candy bars to candles; wrapping paper to holiday pies. We have helped our children sell it all.
We know the value of raising money and how through these efforts, it’s the children who benefit.  It’s the children who reap the rewards.  They learn a wonderful lesson about giving to others, while being able to enjoy activities that otherwise would not be funded such as field trips, pizza parties, movie days and ice cream fun. The money helps the PTA with t-shirts and scholarships, computers and extra activities that the regular budget can’t afford. Our children benefit from successful fundraisers, they are the ones who win.

We are also children of a cancer survivor. Through our own personal experience, helping to comfort and support our mom while she treated for cancer, we have formed a non-profit foundation, Hugs for Healing. It is our hope to offer comfort and support to those treating for cancer.

Cancer may only be in one person, but it really affects the entire family. We were devasted by Mom’s diagnosis.  All of us wanted to reach out, hug her, and help her heal. One of the gifts we gave her that Easter day was a sweatshirt. Mom has six grandchildren, a niece and two nephews, all under 15 years old. As Mom wore that sweatshirt, each child dipped their hands in pink fabric paint and one by one hugged her, leaving their handprints behind. Mom wore this sweatshirt everyday to and from treatment. Mom felt those hugs and carried them with her during her treatments.

Through our foundation, we want to combine our experiences with comforting for cancer while teaching children the value of giving to others while at the same time raising money for their school.
